There are a number of safety related skills you must learn before you head out to sea. Going away from the beach can be easy but do you have the skills to bring you back to shore?

Are you a Swimmer?

Swimming is a very important skill to have if you want to learn kitesurfing. Instructors will not teach kitesurfing to students who cannot swim. Think about it - you are venturing out into the ocean & if anything goes wrong you will have to swim back to shore on your own.

Safety first

Do not try to learn this sport from a book or online videos. Take kitesurfing lessons with an experienced instructor who can teach you the basics. Before your first session you should know what conditions are suitable for kitesurfing, what are the spots you can go kitesurfing, learn all about the equipment used for kitesurfing along with the safety features, learn all the safety gear required for your first session, learn how to control a kite & a lot more. If you do not put yourself through the knowledge & skill development phase you will be a hazard on the beach.

  • Always wear a PFD, Helmet, Whistle & carry a line cutter

  • Have a safety boat on call
